If you are just starting out, the question "Fansly or OnlyFans" comes up almost immediately. Both platforms work the same way: subscriptions, paid content and tips. But they differ in the details, and those details affect how much you earn and how quickly subscribers find you.
Fees: The Same
OnlyFans takes 20% of every fan payment, as set out in the platform's terms. Fansly's fee is also 20%. So the model keeps 80% on both platforms, and there is no difference on fees.
Payouts
Fansly describes withdrawals in detail in its help center:
- money from each sale becomes available for withdrawal after 7 days
- payout requests are reviewed within 48 hours
- the minimum depends on the method: $20 for Paxum, Cosmopayment and local bank deposits, $50 for SEPA in Europe and the UK, $100 for an international SWIFT wire
- cryptocurrency, Paxum and Cosmopayment usually arrive within 24 hours
OnlyFans handles all payments in US dollars and also sets a minimum payout amount. Your bank may charge a currency conversion fee.
How Subscribers Find You
This is the main difference. Fansly has a "For You" recommendation feed: the algorithm shows posts to users who do not follow you yet. To get there, you add a free preview to locked content and mark the post for promotion. Profile tags and hashtags also help people find you through search.
OnlyFans has no such feed. You have to bring subscribers in yourself: from social media, Reddit, advertising (we cover how to do it without bans in how to promote OnlyFans). That is why a page on OnlyFans stays where it is without promotion, even if the content is good.
Audience Size
This is where OnlyFans is stronger. According to the company's annual report for 2024, the platform has 377.5 million fan accounts and 4.6 million creators, and fans paid creators $7.2 billion over the year. We could not find comparable official figures for Fansly.
A bigger audience means more people who are already willing to pay for content. But you still have to bring them to your page.
If You Are in Russia
Since 2022, OnlyFans has paused the accounts of creators who received payouts in Russia. So for models in Russia, Fansly is the working option. More in our registration guide.
Another advantage of a less well known platform is that people you know are less likely to recognize it. We covered this in our article on anonymity on OnlyFans.
So Which One to Choose
- OnlyFans, if you are not in Russia and are ready to bring subscribers in from outside. The platform has the largest audience.
- Fansly, if you are in Russia or want some subscribers to come through the platform's own recommendations.
At Delmar CO, an OnlyFans agency, we work with both platforms and pick the right one for each model's situation. We take care of promotion, messaging and sales.
